The casual tasting is in the barrel room and normally done by a family member.

Notes: This is a large winery with wide distribution that makes quality Carneros wines. A friendly and relaxed tasting room, and they are open to instant appointments.

Notes: They recently opened a tasting room in Kenwood with a fresh, new feel. They also pour the wines of Remick Ridge, owned by Tom Smothers.

Notes: They are in an industrial park in Petaluma, about 15 minutes from downtown Sonoma. The wines are well-respected and it is owned by sports car racer Kevin Buckler. Make an appointment to see the Porsche collection.

Notes: A very pretty winery surrounded by nice grounds just minutes from downtown Healdsburg. They have a very fun gift shop, a friendly staff, picnic tables and some good wines.

Notes: This is a very friendly winery with a great staff, a cute gift shop and some really good wines. It has that wonderfully inclusive feeling that we love about North Sonoma.

Notes: This is a very small winery where the barrel room and very comfortable tasting room is below the beautiful house. The owners are builders and the tasting is normally done by the family. Some wonderful wines that will appeal to serious enthusiasts. They also sell some great wine glasses of their own design.

Notes: An up and coming winery with wonderful wines, a great building, a fantastic staff and a lot of fun. A wonderful addition to the heart of Napa Valley. They do tours and their patio is a nice place for a picnic.

Notes: Gallery, during harvest women visitors can sometimes crush grapes with their feet, Lucy style. This is a fun winery to visit and taste some great wines. It is a good value and the winemaker/owner is often around.

Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards (Eagle’s Trace): 680 Rossi Rd. Notes: This is the family's home and the site of two wineries. Conn Valley is 10-15 minutes from the Silverado Trail, low rolling hills and beautiful, rustic wineries. Often the owners lead the tour.

Notes: This is a 'must visit' for racing buffs, being Mario Andretti’s winery. It has an Italian-style, even though the section of Italy where their family comes from originally, close to Trieste, is no longer part of Italy. Oak Knoll is just north of the city of Napa and filled with many great, family run wineries. they have nice gardens, cute gifts, tours, and picnic tables.

One wine per vintage: 2002 was a blend of 49% Cab Sauv, 33% Merlot & 18% Cab Franc. Notes: This is a premium winemaker and the sit-down tasting includes 6 wines from the two wineries. It is owned by Jess Jackson.

Notes: The winery was formed by a partnership of two families. Costa Arger is the winemaker, and his day job is as a very respected heart doctor. Coming from a Greek family he has a long history of making wine, and does a great job. Martucci, as well contributing vineyards, also contributed his son, one of the owners, as the assistant winemaker. Very much a family operation, this is a fun place to taste, with gardens, and picnic tables around the pool.

Notes: A small, pretty winery tucked in the western hillsides south of Healdsburg. Intimate tasting room surrounded by tables nested in the gardens. Pet friendly, and a great place to picnic.

Notes: One of southern Napa's great destination wineries, with great tours, architecture, artwork, gifts, and views that are the best in Carneros. Although they can get busy in the weekends, they have a great staff that is unfailingly upbeat. A personal favorite.

Notes: The very elegant and comfortable tasting room is in downtown Glen Ellen. It is a small family winery that produces remarkably good wines. Their vineyards are perched on the top of the mountains between Sonoma and Napa, across the canyon from the famous Monte Rosso vineyards. You can visit the vineyards and winery at 2992 Cavedale Rd. Glen Ellen by appointment. It is a winding road but worth the ride.
