Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery: 8761 Dry Creek Rd.Healdsburg(DryCreekValley) 800.831.0381www.ferrari-carano.comHrs: 10- 5TF: $ - $$$$$CWPWines: Fumé Blanc, Zin, Merlot, Malbec, Bordeaux blend, Grenache Rose, Dessert wines: Eldorado Gold (Semillion/Sauv blend) and Eldorado Noir (Black Muscat grape). Notes: This is the crown jewel of the DryCreekValley and the largest winery there. Go downstairs to the Enoteca & caves & don’t miss the gardens hidden behind the wall to the right as you approach. The Carano family (Ferrari comes from his Grandmother) is in the restaurant business in Las Vegas. They first came here on vacation and then purchased land for a home. Over time their vineyards expanded, then they built the winery in a Japanese style. Then they built the visitors center in an Italianate style. It is quite elaborate and there may be a touch of Vegas, but it works. Their production has grown now so that they have a separate winery for the reds and the whites. In the Enoteca, rather than pour their reserve wines, they offer those wines that are made in very small lots, often two and three hundred cases. It is a wonderful experience. The only problem is that it doesn't have the great views of the tasting room upstairs.
