Notes: The property has been in the family since the 1930's and there have vineyards there since the 1860's. A great tour of the vineyards and their gravity flow winery. Plan on two hours. It is 2.5 miles from Route 29 on the way to the Hess Collection.

Notes: Redwood Road is a winding way to a destination winery, a world class art collection bonded to a wonderful winery, owned by a Swiss billionaire who made his money in bottled water. He first came to the USA to market water, but realized that the better market was wine. Today Hess is a large winery with a wide line of products. The tasting room and gift shop are great. The art collection is very modern. The barns that make up the building are classic Napa. They are next door to the Christian Brother's center.

Notes: The tasting room is at south east corner of the Plaza. The wines are well made, nicely priced and very authentic. It is a partnership of three friends who have years of experience with the wine business. The plaza is a great place for a wine tasting, because if you overdo it a bit, there are plenty of restaurants to walk to.

Notes: Their tasting room is right in the center of Yountville, but don't let the location hide the fact that this is a winery with a great deal of depth. They own numerous, excellent vineyards around Napa, and have been selling grapes to top wineries for many years , and running a successful vineyard management company. This is a Mom and Pop and the kids business, and they produce a great product at a surprisingly reasonable price. The secret to wine pricing often relates to how much people paid for their land, and the Hills have owned theirs for a while. Besides the fun tasting in town they also host events at their ranch. These are wonderful folks and authentic Napa.
